By now the housemates are well used to Big Brother's horrid wake up calls. So used, in fact, that even a medley of five most hideous alarms is now water off a duck's back. When the Birdie Song woke them at around 9.30 this morning not even the usually animated Stuart was particularly enamoured, reports the BB Website. Half way through the tune he did manage to get vertical and half-heartedly shake his bootie, before going off to fetch himself a glass of his beloved orange juice.

But the others remained lifeless. The sounds of a pack of Rottweilers fighting over a cocktail sausage soon came along to remind them Big Brother meant business, and without a word, Shell and Nadia slunk out of bed and silently went about their business. This left Jason and Dan to attempt slumber throughout the all-seeing eye's follow-up attempts to get them out of bed: a pneumatic drill and a modem connecting.

By the time the latter had ended, the pair were cheerfully debating what their eardrums might be treated to next.

Their cool exterior crumbled somewhat when Big Brother obliged them with a fire bell.

"Thank you, Big Brother," snarled Jason sarcastically.

"What is this? Torture?" wondered Dan.
