Chinese police officers have been left red faced after 18 officers were dispatched to rescue an inflatable sex doll.
Officials received a call reporting a body floating in one of Shandong province's rivers and their struggles to bring the corpse to the shore attracted a crowd of more than 1,000 onlookers - but when police finally pulled the body to safety after 40 minutes they discovered it was in fact an X-rated plaything.
The embarrassed officers sheepishly showed the rescued figure to the disappointed onlookers, who covered their kids' eyes and walked off.
The police were unable to tell what the floating object actually was due to it being 40-50 metres away from the shore.
