Buskers in an Irish city must have a repertoire of at least 20 songs, according to new laws.

''hog or monopolise a performance site''

A new street performers' code is being enforced by Dublin City Council that states anyone keen on busking in Dublin cannot to ''hog or monopolise a performance site'', and they are no longer allowed to set up within 50 metres of each other.

Dublin City Council Arts Officer Jim Doyle believes the rules tie in with the traditional values of buskers in the Irish capital city.

He said: ''The code as it stands is self-policing and most of the buskers are getting on board.''
