A first generation iPhone has sold for $10,000.
The 8GB gadget - which was launched by Steve Jobs on January 9, 2007, and went on sale six months later - comes complete in its original packaging and is unopened.
''rare collector's vintage box''
The seller - who goes by the username samsonbible on the online auction website - described the handset as a ''rare collector's vintage box'' and listed it for $10,000 as a Buy it Now product meaning people could only purchase it for that price rather than bid for the item.
The description read: ''Stunning rare collectors choice Apple iPhone 1st Generation 8GB and factory sealed!
''You are seeing a piece of history! This is an incredible collectors show piece! This would be a crown jewel for any collection! Amazing factory sealed box!
''Unopened and the collectors dream Apple iPhone!''
