A cow has had to be rescued from a tree.
''The vet checked the cow over and it seemed reasonably happy and relatively unscathed.''
Firefighters were stunned when they were called to remove Sparkle, a 660lb calf, from a tree after the animal fell more than 100ft down a mound and landed in the tree, but fortunately the cow escaped with just bruises, the Daily Telegraph reports.
The rescue operation took four hours and required firefighters to use special equipment, including body armour.
A spokesman for the Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: ''[Sparkle] was extremely tired and exhausted. It was very, very still and in quite a deep state of shock.
''The vet checked the cow over and it seemed reasonably happy and relatively unscathed.''
