An 'X Factor'-style sheep TV talent show in Senegal has become a ratings winner.

'Kar Bii' - which translates from the local Wolof language to mean 'The Sheep' - has become a hit in the West African country, where sheep are the animals of choice and viewed as companions, with a growing number of entries each year.

The programme involves a search for the most perfect specimen in the country and sees finalists from each region compete to help their owners improve their reputations as great sheep breeders and win a cash prize of two million francs (£2,460).

The animals are judged on their size, composure and overall appearance.
