''We have been married for 50 years. We want to see if we can do it.''
Several couples are aiming to kiss for two days in an attempt at breaking the world's longest kiss record.
A number of lovers - the oldest of whom are aged 74 and 72 - kicked off their attempt yesterday (12.02.13) in Pattaya, Thailand, and they are aiming to keep their smooch going until Valentine's Day tomorrow (14.02.13).
The couples must have their lips locked at all times and can only drink water through a straw, and to ensure they don't cheat a referee will accompany them to a specially-made toilet.
Pannajet Yomjinda, the 74-year-old contestant, said: ''We have been married for 50 years. We want to see if we can do it.''
His wife, Suwanna Yomjinda, added: ''I'm not sure if we'll win because of our age but if I was younger, we would surely win.''
