A spidery explosion

A British man blew himself up while trying to snare a spider.

Christopher Robinson was urged by his wife Janine to get rid of the creepy crawly that was dominating their bathroom, but was left with superficial burns to his arms, legs and face after failing to catch the eight-legged beast.

The spider snuck behind the toilet where 28-year-old Christopher fired a highly flammable can of deodorant at the insect in the hope of goading it out of its hiding place.

However, when he sparked a lighter to try and get a better look at where it had hidden, a huge explosion blew him back into the hallway, and was so powerful it even lifted the hatch on his loft.

Christopher said: "I feel a bit of a fool."
