An Indonesian woman has given birth to a baby boy weighing 19.2lb.

The unnamed tot - who was born by caesarian section - is just over 2ft long and was the heaviest newborn the country had ever seen.

Gynaecologist Binsar Sitanggang said: "This heavy baby made the surgery really tough, especially the process of taking him out of his mum's womb. His legs were so big."

Doctors at the hospital in North Sumatra believe the extra-large baby was born as a side-effect of his mother's diabetes.

Dr Sitanggang added: "This baby boy is extraordinary, the way he's crying is not like a usual baby. It's really loud."
