Criminals in Britain could soon be foiled by a lamppost that can 'arrest' people. The Flashcam - marketed by security company QStar - is equipped with motion sensors, a camera to capture the criminal's image and a loudspeaker to reprimand people about their illegal activity. When it senses people up to no good are near, the camera shouts "Stop! If you are engaging in an illegal activity your photograph will be taken and used to prosecute you. Please leave the area."Steve Galinsky, managing director of the firm, says around 50 lampposts are already being tested in crime hotspots around the UK, and if successful could be common place. He said: "They have already caught lots of people - some quite literally with their pants down, engaged with prostitutes. The look of amazement on their faces when the camera starts to shout is priceless."
