A US Girl Scout has sold over 17,000 boxes of cookies - believed to be a world record.

Jennifer Sharpe shifted 17,328 boxes of Girl Scout cookies, which she will use to finance a trip to Europe for her Scout group.

It's always been one of those goals I wanted to accomplish.

She said of the feat: "It's always been one of those goals I wanted to accomplish."

Sharpe, aged 15, sold cookies every day on a street corner with help from her mother and troop leader, Pam Sharpe. Jennifer Sharpe's Troop 813 raised around $21,000 in cookie sales, which will pay for its 10 day trip to Europe.

The ambitious cookie seller and her troop have used money from previous cookie sales to pay for a Caribbean cruise for the troop.
