A British man with a fear of spiders has been warned he might die on Halloween.

John Stafford - who has severe arachnophobia - has been warned by his doctor he could suffer a fatal heart attack if he even sees a toy spider.

The man is so terrified of spotting an arachnid he will not leave his home until the ghoulish date is over in case he walks past a store selling the joke bugs.

I stop breathing and pass out, it's just terrifying.

Apparently the 54-year-old man's heart is so bruised, even spotting a fake spider could kill him.

He said: "I stop breathing and pass out, it's just terrifying."
