A British gang stole 80 kg of flour after police at a drugs sting decided to go home.
Officers from the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) had set up the trap when they found $5.3 million worth of cocaine in storage at Trafford Park, Manchester.
The police replaced the powder with flour and waited until it grew dark before they decided to return to their homes.
We have been able to prevent the serious and detrimental effect these drugs would have had on local communities if they had hit the streets.
However, once the officers had left a gang broke in and assaulted two security staff members before fleeing the scene with the enormous amount of worthless flour.
Officers have since arrested eight suspects.
Steve Baldwin, SOCA's head of investigations in the North West, said: "We have been able to prevent the serious and detrimental effect these drugs would have had on local communities if they had hit the streets."
