Drunk dog walkers banned

Russian dog owners have been banned from taking their pets out while when drunk.

This is just the latest in a steady stream of potty policies that try to criminalise and fine innocent dog walkers.

A new bill passed in Moscow outlaws anyone from walking more than one dog at a time, or any animal weighing over 35lbs after they have been drinking, as they are deemed too dangerous not to be properly supervised.

Meanwhile in England, the county of Greater Manchester has banned anyone from walking their dog on a lead longer than two metres. Any walker found breaking this rule risks a fine of up to £1,000. The local council claims that walkers who use shorter leads are more likely to clean up their dogs' mess.

Dylan Sharpe from website Big Brother Watch, which fights against bureaucracy in the UK, said: "This is just the latest in a steady stream of potty policies that try to criminalise and fine innocent dog walkers."

The council pointed out, however, dog walkers already risk fines of a similar nature if they are caught not cleaning up their pets' mess.
