A US man received over $470,000 in paycheques from a company he had never worked for.
Anthony Armatys, 35, admitted to banking the money as he appeared in court in New Jersey.
He said he had accepted a job at New Jersey company Basking Ridge in September 2002 but then changed his mind. However, the company's computer system never removed his name from the payroll.
Paycheques were deposited into his bank account until February 2007, when Avaya auditors discovered the mistake.
Prosecutors are recommending a six-year prison term and restitution.
