An Austrian court has banned cows from wearing bells.
Judge Erich Kundergraber ordered a farmer in Styria to remove the objects from his cattle after local residents claimed they couldn't get to sleep because of the noise from the objects.
The judge made the decision after visiting the cows to inspect just how noisy they were being after the farmer initially refused to remove the bells because they are an Austrian tradition and helped to calm his animals.
The farmer even appealed against the decision but the judge argued the bells were not a traditional feature of rural Austrian residential areas.
