An Italian mafia boss was arrested - while playing 'The Godfather' video game.

Police noted that while tracking Messina for 11 years they had found the game, among many others, in his various hide-outs.

Gerladino Messinak, the second most wanted mafia man in the whole of Italy, was arrested while playing a video game where the player simulates being an underworld Don, based on 'The Godfather' film series.

A source told The Epoch Times newspaper: "Messina apparently had an interest in the Godfather videogame.

"Police noted that while tracking Messina for 11 years they had found the game, among many others, in his various hide-outs."

Messina had been on the run for over a decade when he was finally tracked to Favara, Sicily, where he was arrested as part of a government crackdown on mafia criminals - which has seen some 14 of the country's most dangerous felons put behind bars in recent months.

According to other reports, Messina had already been sentenced to life in prison for his crimes.
