A US student has made a hat to force people to be happy.
Los Angeles design student Lauren McCarthy created the "conditioning device" - which senses when the person is smiling and gives "pain feedback" when they stop - to train people to smile more.
A 'bend sensor' attaches to the wearer's cheek to measure the size of their grin, with a metal spike digging into the head when they start to frown.
Just using the muscles to smile can make you feel happier
McCarthy said: "A smile is a simple action that has the power to make you and everyone around you feel better.
