A drunken US police officer drew his gun in a haunted house.

Eric Michael Janik, 36, pointed his gun at the actor Michael Brian Morrison, 32 - who was dressed as Leatherface from 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,' - whilst walking through a haunted house.

Eric - who was with his nine-year-old daughter and a female police officer at the time - smelled of alcohol and was slurring his speech, according to police.

The off-duty officer initially denied pulling out his handgun but later told officers he drew the weapon and pointed it at the ground, although multiple witnesses said he pointed the gun at Michael.

Eric was suspended from the police and charged with assault and reckless endangerment.

He was released on $25,000 bail.
