A New Zealand man is set to be jailed after assaulting a boy with a hedgehog.William Singalargh, 27, allegedly picked up the animal and threw it at the 15-year-old boy in the North Island town of Whakatane.Police senior sergeant Bruce Jenkins said: "It hit the victim in the leg, causing a large, red welt and several puncture marks." Police arrested Singalargh shortly after the incident, and charged him with assault with a weapon.Singalargh - who has denied the charge - faces five years in prison if he is convicted.Jenkins added: "People often get charged with assault for throwing things at other people."

The person in question got a $700NZD fine. Saying a 5yr prison sentence is ridiculous, you'd have to commit manslaughter with the hedgehog in NZ to get a 5yr prison term and you'd still be out in 2.
