A Norwegian couple have become the first people to get married at the North Pole.
Arctic explorer Borge Ousland and his bride Hege tied the knot in front of a ceremony of 15 including a bridesmaid, best man and a helicopter crew.
''It was a very emotional ceremony. Everyone has said it is a very fitting location for me to wed because of my job.''
Despite the remote location, which experienced temperatures up to minus seven on the big day, the couple were unexpectedly joined by a passing skier who joined them for a glass of champagne to toast their nuptials.
Borge said: ''The North Pole is a big part of my life so I felt it needed to play some part in my wedding too.
''For me it was all about marrying the woman I love in a place I love.
