A cyclist in China has invented a new alternative for a bike lock - his dog.

Li Li the golden retriever is now known as the Bike Hugging Dog after doing such a good job of looking after her owner's mode of transport.
She sits on the side of the road with her paws on the bicycle to prevent it from being stolen and one expat, named Jeff, has even started a blog called Pimp My Seat to share a video that his girlfriend captured of Li LI guarding her master's bike.
He wrote on the website: ''When I saw people complaining about the safety of the dog on the bike, I decided to act. I threw this site together and now I am soliciting ideas and suggestions on how we can help our beloved friend.''
