A Wisconsin signposted road diversion leads drivers 50 miles out of their way - even though there is a five minute alternative nearby. The construction work is being done about 10 miles west of tourist hotspot Green Lake, on a short stretch of state Highway. Locals avoid the site by taking a five-minute trip shortcut. But those who follow official signs are sent on a much longer route along three other main roads. A spokesman from the Department of Transport said: "The official detour is long, but it's the best way to divert non-local traffic around the construction zone."Videos you might like
