Man wedged in children's car

Emergency services were called to a home in Kingston-upon-Thames, England, when a grown man became wedged in a child's toy car.

These incidents are time-consuming, costly and take up the precious time of our crews who are then unavailable to attend other, potentially life-threatening, emergencies.

While it is not known how the adult became irreversibly stuck in the replica vehicle, he required the use of fire crews to free him from the implement.

However, this was just one of some 417 incidents reported by emergency services that have involved people becoming jammed in objects and furniture over the course of the past year alone.

Dave Brown, the London Fire Brigade's assistant commissioner for operations and mobilising, has advised public to take greater care before becoming involved in an "often ridiculous" situation.

He said: "These incidents are time-consuming, costly and take up the precious time of our crews who are then unavailable to attend other, potentially life-threatening, emergencies."
