A British football team's players have to wear false beards when they train and warm-up after signing a bizarre sponsorship deal.

''Then we go clean shaven. We have had all the cracks ... missed by a whisker and close shaves.''

Kendal Town have put pen to paper on a deal with Rosetta - a company which makes comedy beards - meaning their stars have to sport the fake facial hair before and after matches.

Defender Marc Joseph - who used to play for Championship side Hull City - told the club's website: ''We have had some funny looks but we love them. Obviously we can't play in them but we can travel, train and warm-up wearing them.
