A wallet has been found inside a tree in the US, 27 years after it was stolen.
A park attendant found the blue leather wallet inside a dead cherry tree in New York's Central Park and reunited it with its owner Ruth Bendik almost 30 years after it was snatched.
In 1982 the 69-year-old woman had been watching the New York City marathon when she was pickpocketed.
Inside the purse were Ruth's student identity card from Columbia University Teachers College and an employee card from the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Caner Center but a $20 note had been taken.
Police returned the wallet, which was hidden under five foot of compost, the next day.
