A US man was attacked after his lover's screams were misinterpreted as pain.

A group of teenagers beat up the 25-year-old man after hearing screams coming from the woman's house.

Fearing she was being attacked, the 34-year-old woman's housemate rounded up a group of friends to confront the man and attacked him with a baseball bat.

The man was treated at a hospital for injuries that were not life threatening.
