A police dog has been sacked for not biting people.

Not all dogs find it easy to bite, surprisingly. Vegas was too tentative. But she'll make a lovely pet.

Vegas, a 19-month-old German shepherd, managed to learn to bark on command, ignore gunshots and jump through windows but she was too nice to take a chunk out of criminals, resulting in her being shown the door at Northumbria force's Ponteland HQ.

Trainer Sergeant John Sim said the pooch would be a "lovely pet" for someone, admitting it's not always the case that dogs like biting.

He said: "Not all dogs find it easy to bite, surprisingly. Vegas was too tentative. But she'll make a lovely pet."
