Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer are working on a comedy show "like nothing seen before".

Fans of the comic duo were shocked when the BBC recently axed their popular spoof quiz 'Shooting Stars' after 18 years but the pair have quashed speculation they will take the format to another channel, saying they are working on new projects for the network instead.

They told 'The Sun newspaper': "We were obviously surprised when the BBC cancelled 'Shooting Stars'.

"When we also won two prizes at the British Comedy Awards it felt right to leave the series on the highest note possible.

"We're already working on several brand new projects, including a panel show the like of which has never been seen (or attempted) before.

"We really appreciate the enormous support and you can rest assured something else is coming round the corner and up the road from Vic and Bob."

It had been claimed that Sky One had been considering acquiring the rights to 'shooting Stars' but eventually decided against it.

A source said recently: "It's a great show and Vic and Bob are easily two of Britain's biggest comedy talents.

"But it has never had a huge appeal to core Sky One viewers."
