A golfer has sparked a wildfire in California after trying to retrieve his ball out of the grasslands.
The golf enthusiast - who has not been named - ignited the fire by accidentally striking his club against a rock.
Roughly 50 firefighters were called to the scene of the blaze, which quickly spread 12 acres across a densely wooded hill next to the Shady Canyon golf course in Irvine, California.
Greg McKeown, captain of the Orange County Fire Authority, explained investigators determined the cause of the fire after interviewing people at the scene of the blaze.
No charges have been filed against the haphazard golfer.
