A staggering two thirds of British people are more frightened at the thought of being without a mobile phone than not being without a loved-one for a day.

The figures were the result of a study by the Nationwide Building Society, who surveyed over 2,000 people in relationships.

Other findings included that 53 per cent admitted to answering texts when they wake up in the morning before speaking to their boyfriend or girlfriend.
