Cyrano, a 10-year-old fat cat who weighs more than 20 pounds, had to have the operation after vets said they could not amputate its cancer-stricken leg - which is now almost useless - due to its size.
Marcellin-Little, a French-born vet, explained: ''This is the most complex implant that NC State has made and really, in all honesty, that anyone has built for any situation that I know of.''
