Peter Richardson decided to put a stop to 70mph vehicles speeding past his home in Shropshire, and made a dummy speed camera to fool drivers, which has been a huge success with his neighbours.

He said: ''People in the village have told me they like the idea.''

The father-of-two's home is situated on the B4396 and he became increasingly fed up by vehicles speeding past his home, so he made the fake speed camera from an empty microwave box, which was decorated to resemble the speed deterrent.

Peter admits that his device has been effective, adding:''It appears to be working as drivers do notice it and slow down''.
