Reliford Cooper III from Florida gave a rather creative excuse when he was arrested after crashing his car, while under the influence.

He asked the police officer: ''Who was chasing me? My dog was driving that car, I ran 'cause I wanted to. You ain't gonna find no drugs or guns on me.''

The suspect is believed to have driven through a stop sign and crashed into someone's home, according to a police report published by The Smoking Gun.

He is then alleged to have left his vehicle and hidden in a nearby church from police.

The officer who arrested him said: ''I was able to smell the strong odour of an alcoholic beverage, as well as an odour of burnt marijuana. Reliford continued to ramble without being questioned.''
