A new study has suggested drinking beer may be good for you.

Research conducted at Oregon State University has revealed Xanthohumol - which is found in beer - might actually help people in terms of their spatial memory and flexibility.

Xanthohumol is found in hops and after conducting research on young mice, scientists have concluded that it might help the cognitive function of humans.

Interestingly, the research revealed the supplement was only successful on younger mice.

Hops are the only known dietary source of Xanthohumol and researchers have confirmed their experiment used the equivalent of 2,000 litres of beer - or 3,519 and a half pints.
