Duck learns to waddle with fake foot
The happy-go-lucky bird was found without a webbed foot shortly after it was born after a turtle seemingly gnawed at his limb but the precious eight-month-old Indian runner duck named Peg has been given a new lease of life after teenage students at Armorel High School in Arkansas used a 3D printer to create a new lower leg.
The duck's owner Patsy Smith told TV station KAIT: ''I was just elated. And it's been a wonderful learning experience.
''The very first model, it was not very good, but that was what we were learning. And so from where it is now it is a completely different process. Not only is it heartwarming, but it's exciting.
''I'm just so grateful that there are people that truly care, and they've gone out of their way to do everything they can to make it as comfortable for the duck.''
The school's lab director Alicia Bell said it took around 30 attempts before pupils created a model that was appropriate for Peg and his leg.
