Dwight Yorke was speaking after launching a Destination Tobago Awareness campaign, 'If Only Every Day Was A Day In Tobago'

Former footballer Dwight Yorke is trying to conquer Paul Scholes' dislike of travelling to get him over to his home nation Tobago.

''We are attracting some good people there now. But I'd love Paul Scholes. He's the one I'm trying to get.''

The ex-Aston Villa striker is doing everything he possibly can to convince the former England legend to make the trip over to his country for a legends football tournament in June next year to help encourage others to visit the island.

He exclusively told BANG Showbiz: ''We are attracting some good people there now. But I'd love Paul Scholes. He's the one I'm trying to get.''

Yorke, 42, believes if he can convince Scholes to make the trip to the land mass then any other footballer will be keen to follow in his footsteps and jump on a plane to Tobago.

He added: ''He's the one who doesn't like travelling but I'm trying to convince him. If I can get Scholesy then that means anybody else will come.

''If I can get him to come then I've won the battle.''
