New research showed that over a third of couples who get hitched in the fourth month of the year - such as Jay Z and Beyonce or Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson - are most likely to forget the occasion, while 1 in 10 of those who tie the knot in August also let the date pass them by.

And new research from gift card and voucher market place Zeek also found 40% of young people aged 18-25 had forgotten an anniversary, compared to just 20% of over 65s.

The poll was carried out to launch Zeek's brand new service Zeekminder, which sends out gentle reminders for special occasions such as anniversaries and birthdays, ensuring members stay out of the doghouse.

Daniel Zelkind, CEO of Zeek said: ''We can all relate to that moment when an unexpected card emerges with breakfast in bed. Forgetting your anniversary is a big relationship no-no but thankfully with Zeekminder we can ensure this heart-sinking feeling becomes a thing of the past. Not only will the service remind you of upcoming birthdays, anniversaries and other sacred dates, it will also make buying gifts easier and cheaper, recommending the perfect vouchers for any occasion.''
