An Australian gallery has reported the theft of a painting - 12 years after they noticed it was missing.
The National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne explained the theft of a $202,000 piece of art - which is thought to have been created in 1824 - was not reported earlier because they thought it had just been misplaced.
It came at a time in 1999 when 65,000 artworks possessed by the gallery were relocated for renovation work, the Daily Telegraph newspaper reports.
