Grandma of 80 starts Christmas shop in January

A woman with 80 grandchildren starts her Christmas shopping in January.

''Christmas is a busy time because there are so many of us but it's nice to see everybody. It's always busy here anyway so I'm used to that.''

Mary Scholey has 10 children, 33 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and admits that as soon as the festive season is over, she begins looking for gifts for her brood for the next year.

She said: ''Christmas is a busy time because there are so many of us but it's nice to see everybody. It's always busy here anyway so I'm used to that.''

Mrs. Scholey - who lives with her second husband Raymond - admits that although she struggles to remember where she's hidden the presents throughout the year, she never forgets any of her grandchildren's names.

She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''I don't find it difficult to keep up with all the names. We are not on Facebook or anything so I get all of the news about my family through word of mouth.''
