Helen Mirren is judging a film-making competition.

''Dream to Screen has been an exciting opportunity for young people to showcase their ideas, creativity and brilliance

The Oscar-winning actress joined the panel of the 'Dream to Screen' contest launched by Cineworld Foundation and Media Trust, in order to find new undiscovered film-making talent in the UK.

Helen, 69, has helped select five finalists who have received industry-standard equipment, a production budget and an esteemed BAFTA mentor to help them create a short film based on the theme of inspiration.

The lucky winner will have their film shown in all Cineworld cinemas across the UK and Ireland, and enjoy an all expenses paid trip to Los Angeles to learn from Hollywood's leading talent, provided and organised by 20th Century Fox.

Helen said: ''Dream to Screen has been an exciting opportunity for young people to showcase their ideas, creativity and brilliance. The competition has given aspiring UK talent access to some of the most respected experts in the film industry. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity.''

Voting opened up to the public today and closes on September 19.

All five short films can be viewed at www.dreamtoscreen.org.
