The clever device, which is being billed as the alcohol equivalent of a water fountain, has been trialed in Osaka, Japan, at Kansai International Airport, where passengers are using it on a daily basis.

Milan Csepku uploaded footage of the dispenser to YouTube and said: ''These machines have been around for some time but are not that common outside of international departure lounges because in most places you simply aren't allowed to serve your own alcohol.

''Air-side airport areas in Japan are a notable exception.''
