Koala clings onto car for long trip

''He's recovering well but we need to know where to return him. He's very lucky to be alive.''

A koala bear clung onto a car for a 50 mile journey.

The four-year-old animal was hit by a car in Queensland, Northeastern Australia but managed to hold onto the vehicle until its driver stopped at a service station, the Daily Mirror newspaper reports.

The marsupial was then taken to a vet and has since been renamed 'Timber Wolf'.

Veterinarian Dr Rebecca Millers said: ''He's recovering well but we need to know where to return him. He's very lucky to be alive.''
