An investigation by the consumer group Which? found that two in five lamb curries and kebabs were mixed with beef and chicken, while more than one in ten had no trace of lamb whatsoever.

The investigation involved buying 60 takeaway meals from restaurants in Birmingham, in the West Midlands of England, and London and 24 of those meals had lamb mixed with other meats while seven contained no lamb at all.

Which? executive director Richard Lloyd said: ''More than a year on from the horse meat scandal, our research uncovers shocking evidence of food fraud.
