Man arrested for drinking Bailey's liqueur

''a homosexual is our friend, is our brother, is our sister, is part of our family - is not a stranger, not someone coming from outside.''

A man has been arrested for drinking Bailey's Irish Cream liqueur.

Michael Togue - who is an attorney in Cameroon, western Africa - has revealed some of the worst stereotypes his clients have faced in the country where both male and female same-sex relationships are illegal.

Using a client who was threatened with a sentence of up to five years plus fines for drinking what was referred to as a woman's drink as an example, he spoke about how stereotypes are used in prosecutions.

He told the Think Progress blog that he wants people in Cameroon to recognise that ''a homosexual is our friend, is our brother, is our sister, is part of our family - is not a stranger, not someone coming from outside.''
