Man calls emergency services for TV remote

A man called the emergency services when his wife refused to give him the TV remote.

''My wife won't give me the remote''

The frustrated husband, from Shropshire, in the West Midlands of England, phoned 999 when his spouse refused to hand over the controls.

According to the Metro newspaper, the man told the call-handler: ''My wife won't give me the remote''.

West Mercia Police have since confessed the case isn't unusual and admitted that along with TV disputes they ''regularly'' receive emergency calls requesting lifts from people who have run out of money for taxis.

Other hoax callers included a man who had misplaced his wallet and another who attempted to report a driver with tinted windows on his car.
