Man finds tongue eating parasite in dinner

A man found a tongue-eating parasite in his dinner.

''It was about 3cm long and 8mm wide - luckily just big enough for me to see before I put it in my mouth.''

Paul Poli - who is a retired headmaster from Wales - found the three centimetre long creature in the sea bass fish he bought at a branch of Morrisons supermarket just as he sat down to tuck into the meal.

Upon returning the fresh fish to the shop, the parasite was identified as a tongue eating louse, which enters fish through their gills before attaching themselves to their tongues and eating them.

Despite not being harmful to humans, Mr. Poli claims the experience has put him off eating fish ''for life''.

He told the Daily Mail newspaper: ''It was about 3cm long and 8mm wide - luckily just big enough for me to see before I put it in my mouth.''
