Jason Barrett, 43, thought he was going mad when he saw the horse trotting up to the ordering booth, but it was exactly what he thought he saw.

According to the Metro.co.uk, Jason said: ''I had to do a double take because you don't see that every day.

''But I looked around and no one seemed to be bothered, I just thought people must be used to it.''

According to the onlooker, the man is a regular at Tesco's with his noble steed.

He said: ''The horse was just waiting for him to get his shopping and they went off.''

However, McDonald's aren't too impressed knowing a horse was using the drive-thru intended for cars.

A spokesperson commented: ''Our drive-thru lanes are specifically designed for roadworthy motor vehicles only and are therefore not suitable for horses.

''Our crew advised the customers of this policy and invited them inside the restaurant, where they were more than happy to be served.''
