Monkeys escape from British zoo

Two monkeys have escaped from a British zoo.

The pair of Capuchin monkeys - which will bite and scratch humans if approached - broke out of the South Lakes Wild Animal Park in Cumbria, North West England and are now on the loose, the Daily Mirror newspaper reports.

Police have warned the public they could be attacked if they try to get close to the animals but insisted they do not pose an immediate risk.

Capuchins are black, brown or white, have tails as long as their bodies and spend their entire day searching for food before getting cosy in trees for a good night's sleep.
