A man fired a three-inch nail into his brain without even realising, and he thought the doctor was joking when he showed him an X-Ray of the item.

A man fired a three-inch nail into his brain without even realising.

Dante Autullo was using a nail gun to build a shed and he thought he'd just cut himself with the tool before he went to the hospital the next day and doctors showed him an X-Ray of the item lodged in the middle of his brain.

Recalling the moment when he was shown the image, he explained: ''When they brought in the picture, I said to the doctor, 'Is this a joke? Did you get that out of the doctors joke file?'

''The doctor said, 'No man, that's in your head.' ''
